  • 4. Does Smartfren change the settings on devices that use eSIM?

    No, Smartfren does not change any settings on devices that use eSIM. The eSIM feature is attached to the customer's device and Smartfren as the provider that provides the first eSIM service in Indonesia. 

  • 5. How do I activate eSIM on my phone?

    Get eSIM QR code through smartfren galleries and some outlets that collaborate with smartfren. Make sure your device is connected to the internet before scanning the QR code. Scan the QR code from your device, continue the installation process until it's finished, then Smartfren eSIM will automatically installed on your device.

  • 6. What are the limitations of eSIM?

    • eSIM can only be downloaded to one device. You are not allowed to scan other devices after eSIM profile is active on the previous device. For that, make sure you scan the QR code for the first time on the device you are going to use.
    • You can re-scan up to ten times on the same device. Make sure you safely store your code.

  • 7. Can I use my current number with eSIM?

  • 8. What should I do if I accidentally delete my eSIM profile from my device?

    You can easily download the SIM profile back to your device by re-scanning the QR code that you got earlier. The maximum number of re-download is ten times and can only be done from the same device.

  • 9. How long does it take to download the eSIM profile?

    Download speed will depend on your internet connection. 

  • 10. What if I lost my QR code? How can I reuse it?

    You can visit the nearest Smartfren Gallery to get the same QR code again.

  • 11. What if there is a failure while scanning the QR code?

    1. Make sure you are connected to the Internet.

    2. Check the lighting conditions that may affect the camera when you scan the QR.

    3. Check whether the QR code is damaged or not.

    4. If the device still has problems, please contact Smartfren Customer Care team

  • 12. Can I move my eSIM profile that I have used to another device?

    You cannot re-scan using the same QR code from another device. You can only re-scan from the same device. To move your eSIM profile to another device, you have to migrate through Smartfren gallery to get a new QR code. 

  • 13. When I do a device service, do I have to remove the eSIM smartfren from my device?

    Yes, we recommend deleting the eSIM profile first so that your phone number is not misused by other parties.

  • 14. What if a customer wants to contact Smartfren's call center regarding eSIM information or complaints regarding Smartfren services?

    To connect with our Call Center, Customers can go through the following channels:

    1. Call Center 888 to call from Smartfren numbers

    2. Telephone numbers 021-50100000 and 08811223344 to call from PSTN or other operator numbers

FAQ eSIM Iphone 13 Series

  • How to setup the personal hotspot in Iphone 13 Series using Smartfren?

    Menu untuk mengaktifkan fitur Hotspot Pribadi tidak muncul di pengaturan iPhone 13 Series secara default. Ikuti langkah berikut agar menu pengaturan Hotspot Pribadi Muncul di perangkatmu. Pastikan Anda telah mengaktifkan fitur VoLTE sebelumnya. Cara mengaktifkan hostpot pribadi, sebagai:

    uSIM users
    1. Go to menu Settings -> tap Cellular
    2. Tap Cellular Plan and select Personal (Primary)
    3. Tap Mobile Data Network
    4. Enter the APN in the Personal Hotspot and Mobile APN fields with ‘smartfren4g
    5. Then return to the Personal (Main) menu
    6. Back again to the Mobile menu
    7. The Personal Hotspot menu will appear in the Mobile
    8 menu. Personal Hotspot ready to use

    eSIM users 1. Go to Settings menu –> tap Cellular 2. Select Cellular Data Network 3. Enter the APN in the Personal Hotspot section with 'smartfren4g' 4. Return to Cellular menu (important step for eSIM users) 5. Select Cellular Data Network 6. Enter the APN in the Mobile APN section with 'smarfren4g' 7. Back to the Cellular menu 8. The Personal Hostpot menu will appear in the Cellular menu 9. Personal Hotspot ready to use

  • How to activate VoLTE on Iphone 13 series?

    The menu for activating VoLTE eSIM does not appear in the settings if your iPhone 13 Series has never used a Smartfren physical SIM card. 
    Follow these steps so that the VoLTE eSIM settings menu appears on your device:
    – Insert Smartfren physical SIM card.
    – Go to Settings –> Cellular –> select Cellular Data –> Activate the VoLTE toggle.
    – After the VoLTE toggle is active, please turn on VoLTE so you can enjoy phone calls on the 4G network.
    – After the VoLTE toggle is activated, the customer can remove the Smartfren physical SIM card and the VoLTE will remain active.
